The first thing people tend to think of when they consider video is a straight-forward recording of an event. But video offers so much more – it can put a face to your CEO, tell a story about your business, define your brand, or excite viewers about what your business has to offer. For this blog entry, I thought I’d take a moment to mention some ideas for video marketing with your business.

Human Element
Video lets you put a face behind your business. Many businesses have taken advantage of putting their often eccentric CEO on camera to speak directly to customers. In many cases, this can break the cold barrier of the company facade and establish trust. Additionally, video can be used to give your customers a face and a chance to be heard through testimonial videos. These videos are excellent for giving life to your webpage, for example a personal greeting on your homepage.

Storytelling
At Rapid Eye Digital, we believe that in order to sell something, you must first get your audience’s attention. Since the beginning of cinematography, people have been using the medium to tell stories. Use this inherent trait of video and tell a story about your business. Some of the most brilliant marketing campaigns in the past became popular not by showing a product but by defining the essence of it. Video can be crafted to elicit specific feelings in your audience. It also can appeal to very specific audiences. Videos which become “viral” on the web do so often without ever showing the product or service directly. They simply grab a ton of attention and focus it towards a specific call to action. There are no rules for this type of video. It can incorporate a simple camera and actor or a huge “Hollywood” set with complex special effects. It is possible to make your audience want your product/service before they even know what it is.

These are just a few ways that video can be used in your business. It is an exciting medium that offers increasingly new ways to communicate.
